A huge shout out to the 320,000 festival goers who attended our18th birthday celebrations! Without you it would have been impossible to once again stage Europe’s largest FREE city centre music festival.
So with another successful year in the bag, and with attendance figures increasing by 50,000 since 2009, we could not have asked for better 18th birthday pressie! If you have any fab videos or photies please post them onto our official facebook fan page
As always we want to extend our thanks to not only the public but the 100s of organisations that help plan and deliver the festival each year. The joint agency work that goes into the 12 month planning period is vital to the delivery of a safe and successful festival.
A massive thank you to you all and in true Liverpool lingo, we mean it when we say: ‘We get by with a little help from our friends’
I would like to see more original bands playing, especially from Liverpool!
Tribute and cover bands have a massive part to play in the festival, however I think in recent years the festival has become swamped by them!
Lets celebrate and nurture more of the talent within the city, rather than take the capitalist approach of, ‘whatever brings the crowds”, as I am sure the Festival will bring in just as many people, without the 20 beatle tribute acts, the 5 Russain Queen acts and 1 Argentine Kinks band!
The beatles and the 80s Liverpool scene put this city on the map, maybe those tasked with organising the 2011 Festival should let a new generation take the lime light and Shine!
Just wanted to say (from my own personal standpoint), It was an awesome experience to play The Mathew Street Festival & an honur to play in Liverpool.
+ peace & respect +

Back from our second time at the festival and we would like to add our thanks to all concerned for yet another brilliant time in Liverpool. Well done everyone we will be back again next year, all of the stages were fantastic the bands were wonderful only problem is you can’t get to see them all but we did our best to see as many as possible. Brought other memebers of our family along for their first visit and they too can’t wait to come back next year. People of Liverpool should be very proud you made us southerners (well Nottingham) feel very welcome, you are lovely, friendly and kind people.
