Check Out
Monday the 30th August, the Mersey beat returns to the Mathew Street Music Festival, performing live at the Albert Dock’s Floating Stage.
The Albert Dock Tenants are delighted to announce the line up for the Family Stage they are hosting to celebrate the Mathew Street Music Festival on Monday 30th August 2010. This Bank Holiday Monday will see a whole host of live entertainment including Merseybeat classics, the time-less sounds of the Beatles, a performance by a Liverpool living legend, and also from local unsigned talent along with an action packed programme of events which will have you rocking all around the Dock.
Headlining the Albert Dock Family Stage will be The Beatles Show, one of the most successful and life-like Beatles tribute acts, who will be performing Fab Four favourites in an hour long performance. The Beatles Show will also need somebody, and not just anybody, but everybody visiting the Dock to join them in the Beatles Sing-a-long which this year will have the lyrics from Help! Fill the Dock for the Waterfront Sing-a-long.
The Merseycats charity will be performing the infamous sounds of the Merseybeat era with four separate bands playing on the British Waterways Floating Stage with the finalists from Juice FM’s Undiscovered competition. Headlining and rounding off the Dock’s Mathew Street Music Festival Celebrations will be the illustrious and cult Liverpool legends The Amazing Kappa.
Jeremy Roberts, Chairman of the Albert Dock Business Tenants Association said:
“We are delighted to be able to confirm the line up for the Family Stage for this year’s Mathew Street Festival, all the pieces are coming together to guarantee a fun-filled day out for all the family. There will be a diverse mixture of music being performed as well as an action packed feature list of events and activities around the Dock. I cannot wait to see everyone taking part in the Sing-a-long for what is going to be a very memorable day out.”
The Albert Dock Business Tenants Association has been working closely with organisers to provide a family friendly zone, where everyone can enjoy a day of music and live entertainment absolutely FREE.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! Take the family on a ‘magical mystery tour’ around the Dock and you will find more music and a list of activities as big as a ‘Norwegian wood’. Head over to BugWorld Experience and party with the ‘alternative Beatles’ with a special 2-for-1 offer during the whole Mathew Street Music Festival Weekend. The Beatles Story will be adding to the Merseybeat fun with a team of Sgt. Peppers ‘here, there and everywhere’ giving away free goodies for the family to take home. If the ‘good day sunshine’ becomes a little too bright, the Beatles Story will also be hosting a chill out zone where the kids can make their own pair of round rimmed glasses that John Lennon himself would be proud of. Once the glasses are sorted, finish off the John Lennon look with a trip to Nauticalia who will have special offers on iconic Breton Caps, worn by Liverpool’s most famous Yellow Submariners.
If at some point in the day you get so hungry you could eat a ‘walrus’ there is a great range of child friendly bars and restaurants that will ‘keep you satisfied’. PanAm will be shouting ‘come and get it’ on Sunday and Monday of the festival with a great offer on a three course set menu with entertainment provided by the Cheatles. Head over to What’s Cooking? ‘at any time at all’ during the Bank Holiday Monday and you will find a gala of food, fun and activity with face painting, fake tattoos and balloons for the little ones and after 6pm – 2-for-1 cocktails for adults. If Pizza is your thing then kids can make their own at GUSTO until 6pm then if you find yourself saying ‘I’m so tired’, then Costa Coffee will give you 10% off any food and drink. Vinea will have a great selection of beers and wines, strictly for the grown ups.
